Prayer of the Handmaiden: A Legend of Ithyria

When the Goddess Ithyris appoints the shy, introverted priestess Kadrian to become Her first shaa’din, or holy warrior, in a millennium, everyone is mystified by Her decision—especially Kade herself. On the battlefields of Mondera, as Kade struggles to defend Ithyria from a new and dangerous enemy, she’s also brought face to face with her greatest personal temptation: the childhood sweetheart who had once almost kept Kade from her spiritual calling.

Erinda was born into the service of the royal family. Endless household chores and a passion for horses fill her days, but her nights are consumed with hopeless longing for the only woman she’s ever loved, the woman she lost to the temple seven winters ago. Erinda knows Kade will never return to her. After all, what mortal could ever hope to compete with a Goddess?

In the second installment of the Ithyria series, the war between the gods escalates as lovers torn apart by destiny are reunited, and Ithyris demonstrates once again that Love is the most powerful weapon of all.

Progress as of 10/16/2011:
Wow. You’ve heard the phrase when it rains, it pours? Well, when the Muse shows up, she sure shows up with a vengeance. Chapter Sixteen and Seventeen, written in a single day. I honestly can’t remember the last time I got so much done in one sitting (albeit a very LONG sitting… it’s presently 1:30 in the morning and I’ve been writing since noon.) I believe there’s three more chapters to go, though it’s possible a fourth one might wriggle its way in there. I also think we’re going to be looking at something more like 114K words by the time we’re done rather than the original 109 I’d estimated. But, we shall see, shan’t we?

Hey, at least my writer’s block is gone. :P
